The images you encounter on this website are all invitations to draw closer to God. Whether you have an established study routine or are encountering the Word for the first time, the images are meant to encourage you to draw closer, look more deeply, or simply sit in His presence.
The site contains 52 images, intended to provide a 52-week visual rendition of passages and scriptures that have inspired me, chastened me, and given me hope.
The images are not in a specific order. You can scan through them in any order. You can take in the images quickly, moving from one to the next, or spend time with each one. I suggest spending several days with each image so you can “soak” in the Word and allow God to open your understanding.
No interpretation of the images is offered beyond the words embedded in the images and their titles. Everything else is between the viewer and the Holy Spirit. I hope these images speak to you as they have spoken to me.
These images are meant to invite you to linger, to notice, and to listen. If a word causes you to pause, that pause itself is often the beginning of understanding.
Suggestions For Use
Gather your tools: a Bible (hardcopy or online, whichever you prefer); a notebook, paper, or electronic device you use for note-taking; pens/pencils/highlighters (again, your choice).
There is no one way, but beginning with prayer will establish the tone.
Sit with the image. Start from the beginning or randomly choose any of the images.
Read the accompanying scripture(s). That may include a few surrounding verses, or the entire chapter.
Let the Bible interpret itself and direct you to other related passages. The Old Testament lays the foundation and points forward, and the New Testament reveals the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan in Christ.
Go deeper and exegete a passage. But exegete, don’t eisegete. Draw the meaning of the image and passages from the text itself, not from your own ideas, assumptions, or experiences. If you have not studied Scripture this way before, there is guidance on the next page. This method of study can be used for a single verse, a passage, or an entire chapter.

How This Project Came To Be
It started as simple screensavers for my desktop computer. The subject matter was always the same … pictures of sunrises taken over the years. One of those sunrises inspired me to add a scripture and share it with family and friends.
As time went by, the sunrises were replaced with images created from the sunrise photographs and AI-generated images. They were placed into an editing program, and I played with them until they felt just right.
But it wasn’t long before the tables turned. Instead of fitting a scripture to an image, scriptures began to come first, looking for visual expression. At some point, I realized that this was no longer “my project” but “my assignment.” The images began to appear with quiet regularity, then rapidly, until one, Dance Out Of Your Crown, woke me up in the middle of the night. I got out of bed, turned on the computer, and David appeared almost immediately!
All glory goes to God, ever the Creator. My creator, and the Creator of these images. May they bless you as they have blessed me in their creation.
